About Us

In 2018, a group of passionate parents, volunteers, partners, and interested individuals met to discuss and determine need, interest, and capacity for a local gymnastics club in Fort Frances. This group formed a Board of Directors when the Rainy Lake Gymnastics Academy was incorporated in December 2018. Less than a year later, in October 2019, the RLGA launched a recreational gymnastics program for over 200 youth aged 2-18. This would not have been possible without the support of our founding sponsors & donors, Fort Frances GM, the Town of Fort Frances, KidSport and the Northwestern Health Unit, 93.1 The Border, the Fort Frances Times, dedicated volunteers, and the entire community.

Purpose & Goals:

  • Operate a community-based gymnastics program in Fort Frances, with a range of recreational gymnastics programs for families, children, and youth ages 2-18, under the guidelines established by Gymnastics Ontario, Gymnastics Canada, and the Coaching Association of Ontario/Canada;
  • Foster, promote, and develop skills in gymnastics for children and youth who reside in Fort Frances and the surrounding townships and First Nations communities;
  • Provide a new organized recreation opportunity in the Rainy River District that promotes active, healthy living and the development of fundamental movement skills that are essential for healthy growth and development;
  • Engage parents, children, businesses, and other members of the community in fundraising and awareness events;
  • Foster among its members and supporters sportsmanship and a general community spirit.
